Skylark Jazz Arrangement
Here is my arrangement of Skylark, by Hoagy Carmichael. Adrian Ingram first introduced me to this song, and it’s fascinated me ever since.
The song is originally in Eb, but I’ve moved it down to D for guitar. The chord progression is always finding new ways to surprise us, and the middle section is especially inventive, moving from the key of D to G, Em then F#(!) before coming back home to D. Sublime! I will never stop loving this song!
Ted plays Miserlou by Dick Dale
Ted’s got this fast pickin’ pretty nailed, I’d say!
His guitar has been repaired by Jack’s Guitars in Hebden Bridge and the intonation is perfect!
You can find the sheet music for this here…
(apologies for my rubbish drumming)

The end of the road.
Well, folks, I’ve had a heat couple of tours this year, and now I’m coming back to the valley.
The first tour I did was with Stella Parton, sister of the legendary Dolly. We were out for three weeks around the UK and it went great.
The second tour was with Sandy Kelly, a country singer from Ireland. It’s the last night of the tour tonight in the Glasgow Pavilion… always a great show to finish on. The crowd are crazy and we end with a bang.
So I’m back in the valley teaching again, and really looking forward to getting back to it.
See y’all soon!!
